The Department of Medical Informatics at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) is seeking a Bioinformatician, Medical Informatician, or Software Engineer with a strong passion for biomedical research. This role is focused on supporting LIH’s efforts in developing tools to advance cancer research using large internal and European data repositories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and maintain data spaces for research and analysis.
  • Develop dashboards using platforms like cBioPortal to visualize complex biological data.
  • Contribute to federated data spaces to enable secure data storage and model sharing for federated learning.
  • Assist in creating internal dashboards for monitoring and analyzing existing data.
  • Use database mining tools to annotate sequencing data.
  • Process medical, clinical, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, ensuring data quality and compliance with GDPR standards.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • MSc or PhD in Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics, Data Science, or Software Engineering.
  • Proficiency in command-line scripting and Linux environments.
  • Experience with SQL databases.
  • Familiarity with containers (e.g., Singularity, Docker) and computational pipelining tools (e.g., Nextflow, Snakemake).
