The Prime Minister’s Early Career Research Grant (PMECRG) is an initiative aimed at supporting young scientists in India to pursue innovative research. It provides funding for cutting-edge projects across various scientific fields.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must hold a PhD degree in a relevant field.
  • They should be within five years of completing their PhD.
  • Candidates should be affiliated with a recognized academic or research institution in India.
  • Indian citizens or PIO/OCI affiliated with recognized R&D institutions in India can apply, provided they meet specific guidelines.
  • Must hold a PhD in Science/Engineering or equivalent (MD/MS/MDS/MVSc).
  • Must be within 2 years of joining a recognized institution.
  • Age limit: 42 years (with 3-year relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Physically challenged/women).
  • Applicants should not have received grants such as YSS, ECR, SRG, or CRG from ANRF/SERB.

Grant Amount and Duration:

  • The grant offers a maximum of ₹50 lakhs.
  • The funding is provided for a period of three years.
  • It covers equipment, manpower, travel, contingency, and other project-related expenses.

Research Areas:

  • All areas of science and technology are eligible for the grant. Preference may be given to projects that address national priorities or demonstrate high potential for innovation.

Application Procedure:

  1. The application must be submitted online via the ANRF portal.
  2. Applicants need to upload a detailed research proposal, CV, and institutional endorsement.
  3. The research proposal will be evaluated by expert panels based on innovation, feasibility, and potential societal impact.

Important Dates:

  • The last date for application submission is November 10, 2024.

  • Complete the User Profile section with required information like bio-data, photo, and institute address.

  • Upload a single PDF (max 10 MB) with all relevant technical details, following the provided template.
