Position Overview

The role involves applying cutting-edge deep learning methodologies to enhance plant breeding and genetic improvement programs. This research is pivotal for developing resilient and high-yielding crops suited to diverse climatic challenges, ultimately contributing to global food security.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Development and Application of Deep Learning Models:

  • Design and optimize deep learning algorithms for analyzing large-scale genomic, phenotypic, and environmental datasets.
  • Implement machine learning models to identify patterns and correlations that enhance plant trait selection, such as drought resistance, disease tolerance, and yield improvement.

2. Collaborative Research Initiatives:

  • Work closely with an interdisciplinary team of geneticists, agronomists, data scientists, and bioinformaticians.
  • Contribute to national and international research projects, sharing insights and methodologies to advance collective goals.

3. Publication and Knowledge Dissemination:

  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.

Essential Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Bioinformatics, Plant Biology, or a related field.

  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, R, and MATLAB.
  • Experience with data management and analysis tools, including cloud-based platforms (AWS, Google Cloud).

Domain Knowledge:
